Our Father in heaven, to You who sent Angel Gabriel to announce the good news, I give thanks as I praise and give glory to Your Holy name. Thus Jesus was born from a poor mother who knew not any sin from the day of her conception. In His name I pray, let us have the good news announced yet once more. Let us experience the birth of our Redeemer. May He steers us away from the traps of Satan. And may it be the Blessed Virgin Mary who would announce to us, full spiritual and physical healing. Amen.

ISAIAH 60: 4-5(NIV)************AS A CITY GIRL, I never learned about birdsong. But then, I spent a year volunteering in Alaska and got an education I'll always treasure. On long walks in marshes surrounded by lush woodlands, one of the school teachers I worked with taught me how to recognize the calls of different birds. I slowly began to distinguish the different notes and rhythms that alerted me to the presence of pintails and plovers, ptarmigans and Pacific loons. The sounds of nature became a rich symphony to my ears.*****When I returned to New York City, I thought I wouldn't use my new birding skill. But I was wrong. Now when I ride the crowded subway, I tune in with my listening skills, and I hear sounds reminiscent of birdsong! In what before used to be noises, I can now discern a variety of languages and dialects. I hear families interacting, tourists from around the world speaking, and teenagers laughing together.***My commute has become special as I savor the sounds around me and realize that the sound of humanity is a gift from God, just like birdsong or babbling brook. ONE MORNING I OVERSLEPT. THEN, while rushing around the kitchen, I spilled a glass of orange juice all over the counter. After that, I got to work. It was hectic. The phone was ringing. The computer kept crashing. Customers were waiting. And there was a stack of orders to be filled. I was anxious.***So I took a deep breath and said a quick prayer. Dear Jesus, please calm me, and help me adjust my attitude.***I started ringing up customers in the pharmacy. "That will be three dollars and sixteen cents." I said. Hmm...$3.16. John 3:16 popped into my mind. Later, I picked up a bottle of medicine. The number 316 was in the stock number. It couldn't be a coincidence. That afternoon, I looked at the clock. It was 3:16. Again, I repeated the promise of John 3:16 and thanked Jesus for His grace. ***That crazy morning at the pharmacy changed me. When I asked Jesus to change my attitude. He reminded me that He loved me enough to die for me so that I could have eternal life. I don't ever want to forget that. Now I set my phone alarm for 3:16 p.m. every afternoon. When I see the number 316, I thank Jesus for His love. ***Jesus constantly reminds us to focus on Him. He wants our thoughts anchored in His mercy and grace.
