On a recent road trip, I became fascinated with a magnificent old structure located in a city's downtown. Incredible detail graced the windows and balconies, and multiple spires rose like a crown from its rooftop high overhead. Wow! ***I investigated, learning the grand hotel had been built in the early 1920s and became the town's social hub. But after only a few years the building suffered financial struggles. It fell into disrepair and was condemned in the 1960s, standing vacant until the 1980s, when it was updated and repurposed to be subsidized housing. Reading about the building's heyday, I remembered myself as a young woman, the embodiment of a "free spirit." Pride and thrill-seeking made up a large part of my personality. But inside, I was derelict. How many years did I present a proud face while remaining hollow inside? Too long. ***I needed a second chance-someone willing to rebuild me, bit by bit. When I found Jesus , I discovered new hope, and another way to live. I pray for my husband. We have an appt with his oncologist on Monday. I pray for encouraging news. I pray for options. I pray for healing. I pray for strength. Please Lord give us the direction for next steps. Help me to be his advocate. Please direct me so that we are where we need to be. I pray for my daughter. She is trying to be so strong but I know she is terrified. Help me to be strong for her. Help me to comfort and surround her with my love.
