O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me healthy in all senses of the word grandchildren from my two children and their husbands. The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so you are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. We grew closer during the last twenty years of his life. He would often share his life stories, joys, disappointments, and sorrows with me. It was during those conversations that I realized that emotionally, we were alike. We were both sensitive souls who could be easily wounded. He became my best friend, someone who didn't judge or criticize me. On my toughest days I long to hear his voice because sometimes that was enough for me. ****In the days after he passed away, it was Jesus whom I cried out to for comfort. As I sang praise songs and fell to my knees, I could feel Jesus's arms around me, holding me up. When I woke in the middle of the night and remembered that my father was gone, Jesus would rock me back to sleep as tears soaked my pillow.****It was during this time that I learned that Jesus was my joy and my comfort in the time of sorrow. Now, when I buy a sympathy card for someone, I write inside, " May you find comfort and peace in the loving arms of Jesus." I want them to know JEsus will hold them in His arms.
