"Therefore, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, "You are the God who sees me." She also said, " Have I truly seen the One who sees me?" Genesis 16:13 (NLT)**********I GREW UP IN THE COUNTRY outside a small town in Tennessee. I never dreamed it was possible to pass someone face-to-face without making eye contact and offering at least a perfunctory greeting, which often led to a full-blown conversation. When I grew up and moved away, I learned that's not the common practice everywhere. At first it shocked me to see someone turn their head away at the moment we passed each other, just when I had my friendliest smile and comment ready. It made the loneliness of moving to a new place cut even deeper. Maybe that's why I love that Hagar called God "the One who sees me." Many Bible scholars identify the angel of the Lord in this passage as Jesus. Even before He was born on earth, Jesus came down from heaven to tell a servant girl, "I see you and I care about you." during His years of earthly ministry, He communicated that same message over and over: "I see you. I know what' going on with you, and I can help." ***Nobody likes to feel invisible. But we've become a more transient society due to the job market. Also, studies reveal that many people substitute social media for the real-life personal interaction. Moving around the country several times as an empty nester has made me aware of the power of a smile and friendly greeting to ease loneliness. Dear Lord, I offer you this prayer, to help me with my current relationship situation. Please take away all the pain and hurt in my heart. Fill it with love, joy, patience, and understanding. Bless me and my partner, so that we may never surrender to whatever challenges that come our way. Fill our hearts with love for each other, and may you make each one of us realize each other’s worth. Please touch the heart of my partner and fill it with much love for me. Make our complicated relationship become uncomplicated. I seek for your mercy and blessing that you may allow us to spend the rest of our lives with each other. Please make this feeling mutual for both of us. Lead us not into temptations, especially during times of stress, feelings of being overwhelmed, and in situations/places that may lend to these temptations. Make us both seek and maintain exclusivity with each other in this relationship in our thoughts and actions and be honest at all costs. Let us look to each other for support and love. Guide us wherever we go. Always put us in each other’s heart and mind. Allow us to have spontaneity and romantic thoughts/ gestures towards one another. Make us unselfish in our thoughts and gestures towards one another. May there be truth and honesty between us even in difficult situations. Dear Lord please watch over my family. Provide them protection from those whom wish to do them harm. Provide peace of mind and guidance for my daughter. Protect and guide me at my positions for my three jobs. Let truthfulness, justice, and the moral compass of others prevail for me and my family. Continue to provide protection, safety, health, happiness, love, good spirits, financial stability and growth, and piece of mind to my family and me. Provide me the opportunity to grow my finances for the sake of my daughter’s education and towards my independence. Heal me from what ails me right now and get my body back to its healthy, lean state. Help D.J.s knee and soul heal that he may find peace with himself and his family, and help him grow his finances. Let there be authenticity, respect for me , truthfulness, sense of being valued, and genuine love in my relationship as that is what I am seeking and in need of at this time in my life. Help him have genuine show of appreciation for me, and be completely transparent and honest. God please protect and heal J.J. and provide him with comfort and love he needs during this difficult time. Protect D.J. and all my friends and family from getting any colds and viruses. Heal those with the virus, protect those who come in contact with the virus, especially our healthcare workers, law enforcement, grocery/store and delivery workers, those with compromised immune systems, elderly, those with underlying health conditions, and military.
