John 16:7 (CEV)*******I REMEMBER A PARTICUALAR WEEK when people close to me were either moving up, moving out, or moving on. My son was moving up to college. Our neighbor- a married couple with five girls-were moving out of their apartment. And a friend confided to me that she finally had closure with her ex-husband and was ready to move on.*****Then week, I had mixed feelings because everyone was moving. I was sad, yet I was also glad. A college education was expensive, but it would give my son a better chance to qualify for work. It was sad to part ways with kind neighbors, but it gave both our families the opportunity to meet new friends. It was painful for my friend to let her ex-husband go, but this paved the way for her to have a fresh start.***Jesus told His disciples that it would be for their benefit that He was going away. He was referring to His nearing ascension to heaven after His death and resurrection. He would no longer be with the disciples physically, but He would be with every believer through the Holy Spirit. Jesus never thought of leaving us alone and He has no intention of moving out of our lives once we have welcomed Him into our hearts. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 (NIV)*******"TWO YEARS AGO, MY HUSBAND bought me an adult tricycle. It's blues and beautiful. I love it. That first year I rode until the weather turned. Last year, not strong enough to ride. I fought back and joined a gym. I rode a stationary bike, then followed up with weights.****Months passed. Spring's rains ended, replaced by sun-filled days rich with possibility. Still I avoided the trike. I lied to myself, "No time." Busywork crowded my mind, sapping my energy and souring my perspective. How could I play when there was so much to do? The house should be cleaner. There was always something. ******Beautiful days flew by, I avoided the trike, felt tired and discouraged. Then one day I saw a sign: Don't Give Up Your Daydream. Not your day job, your daydream. I'd forgotten how. I recognized Jesus's whisper. Or was He yelling? He gave me life, a gift worthy of joy, not dread. He grants me rest. So last night, I placed my troubles in His capable hands.*****This morning I climbed on my trike and took off. Crisp air ruffled my hair as I zipped along. Flowers fragranced my world. My body came alive, leg muscles pumping, oxygen clearing my thoughts. I was refreshed. If I'd stayed home, I'd have finished the dishes and swept the floor.******Instead, I heard children laughing, watched sunlight play through the clouds, and sensed Jesus smiling. Lord thank you for the start of a new week, and for the blessings received and prayers answered. Lord bless my children, family members and friends with your love and grace today and everyday of their lives. Blessed Mother protect and keep all my children safe especially during this pandemic wherever they are. Holy Spirit light and guide their way. St. Dymphna continue to watch over and help my son Jeremy who is living with mental illness. St. Jude help all of us with any difficulties we may encounter. Prayers for healing ongoing for all those fighting cancer, and those with chronic conditions especially arthritis. Prayers ongoing for all those on family prayer list. God Almighty, we can never love You as You deserve. We can only do our best, and to do this, we need Your grace and help. In the name of Your Son Jesus, our Saviour and Redeemer, who to pay for our sins, had to become man, suffer pain, humility, and death on the cross, I pray: Heavenly Father, have mercy on us and all the souls in purgatory. Be exceptionally kind with the forgotten ones who have no one to pray for them and considerate with the Covid-19 victims whose loved ones still mourn. Amen.
